2011 DOMUS AUREA “CABERNET SAUVIGNON” MAIPO VALLEY, CHILE

$70.00 $49.00 $49.00

A paragon of Chile’s renowned Maipo Valley, Viña Quebrada’s 96 Point Domus Aurea Cabernet Sauvignon showcases in stunning detail all of the idiosyncrasies that make Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignons so desired.  An absolutely enthralling aromatic display, bordering on omnipotence, achieving notes of espresso roast, dried lavender, black currants, and vivid black cherries.  Oozing concentration, beautifully proportioned dark, mineral laced berries, chocolate and spices conceal enough structure to last for nearly 2 decades.  At $21/btl below the winery retail… this top-rated Chilean Cabernet will dress up any cellar…

The quintessence of Chile’s noble Maipo Valley region, Domus Aurea comes from a vineyard planted in 1970, and in 2011 the blend consisted of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon electrified with 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.  If you haven’t had an opportunity to try a wine from this remarkable region of Chile, why not start with the absolute best… With the 96 Point score, and a limited number of cases imported into the US, we don’t expect this beauty to be available for long.

Description

2011 DOMUS AUREA “CABERNET SAUVIGNON” MAIPO VALLEY, CHILE

From Wine & Spirits, “In a fresh vintage such as 2011, the herbal, minty notes and red-fruit character of the site are accentuated, the wine filled with vivid aromas that blend with earthy notes. In terms of texture, this cabernet imposes its finesse with the fine point of delicate tannins. The wine’s vibrant acidity, bound into the tannins, was fashioned by the cool vintage and the cold breezes coming down from the Andes at the Quebrada de Macul. A classic Chilean cabernet, this captures and preserves the best aspects of Andean reds. 96 Points

From The Wine Advocate – “…Right now the nose is beautiful, quite primary with meaty fruit, very good ripeness and balsamic aromas; it is showy, attractive and open. The palate shows great balance and harmony, with sophisticated tannins, good freshness and acidity…” 94 Points
