2014 HUMANITAS “PISCIS VINEYARD” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
My #1 wine in 2017 was Humanitas Signum and to this day I’m still getting requests for more… Signum is now long gone, but the winery’s new 2014 Piscis Vineyard Cabernet is the closest wine yet in both style and quality to Signum. It’s the biggest, richest and most opulent of their single vineyard Cabernets and it stands out for it’s seductive, sultry and hedonistic qualities. The 2014 oozes alluring dark berries, pipe tobacco, chocolatey espresso, creme de cassis and bay leaf.
Located in St. Helena, the Piscis Vineyard produces fruit of concentrated fruit with alluring qualities. St. Helena in general is 5 1/2 degrees warmer than the average in Rutherford and 11 1/2 degrees warmer than Oakville. The warmer temps produce grapes with fleshy, and sensual qualities and the area is known for finely grained tannins.
