2016 VINA COBOS BRAMARE LUJAN DE CUYO CABERNET
The greatest advances in the quality of wines in any particular region, come from pushing boundaries, pursuits of perfection, experimentation, along with high standards of excellence… In this realm, Viña Cobos is the standard bearer, and the 2018 harvest marked twenty years since Paul Hobbs set out to explore the true character of Bordeaux varietals throughout Argentina. Within that time-frame, we’ve watched an entire wine region grow and prosper to become an absolute model for high-quality wines worthy of the world stage. The 2016 Bramare Cabernet Sauvignon unleashes brilliance from the glass with hedonistic black cherries and pulverized blackberry, exotic spices, scorched earth and chocolate dusted plum. At $39.99 it’s an absolutely stunning value.
With origins from the Lujan de Cuyo region, which is widely considered to be the prime growing zone for grapes in Mendoza, the vines are grown at 3,200-3,500 feet in elevation, and have minuscule yields of just over 2 tons per acre. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon spent 18 months in French & American oak barrels before bottling and it’s drinking beautifully right now. I highly recommend adding a case to your cellar.
