2010 Château Haut-Mazeris “Canon Fronsac” Bordeaux

$50.00 $25.99 $25.99

Authored by “the bad boy of Bordeaux,” Jean-Luc Thunevin, this $25.99 Bordeaux, retails for nearly double that, and was created from one of Bordeaux’s greatest vintages in history. Even more impressive, Jean-Luc is also the winemaker at Valandraud, one of the most sought after Bordeauxs in the world, which trades for around $400/btl…

Earning 91 Points from both, Robert Parker and James Suckling; Parker alerts readers the 2010 Haut-Mazeris “is a major sleeper of the vintage” and “terrific wine.” This precision blend, dominated by 80% Merlot enhanced with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, contains fruit from vines that are over 100 years old.

Produced from one of Bordeaux’s best vintages in history, The Wine Spectator describes the vintage as producing powerful reds and rated the overall vintage 98 Points for Right Bank Bordeaux… Château Haut-Mazeris defines value, and certainly won’t be available long at $25.99.

Description

2010 Château Haut-Mazeris “Canon Fronsac” Bordeaux

From Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, “The chalkiness of the wine’s minerality struts forth aggressively, as do copious quantities of black currant and blueberry fruit. The wine hits the palate with serious authority, medium to full body, and plenty of richness and suppleness. Drink it over the next 10-12 years, although I think it could last even longer.  This 2010 is a major sleeper of the vintage from this outstanding estate of 25 acres, which has produced another terrific wine. Thirty percent new oak was used during upbringing, and the final blend is 80% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.” 91 Points

From James Suckling, “Aromas of orange peels, blueberries and blackberries follow through to full body, with velvety, yet chewy tannins and a long powerful finish.  Very Structured.” 91 Points
