2014 TAPIZ “ALTA COLLECTION” MALBEC
Fashioned by Fabian Valenzuela and Jean Claude Berrouet, (former winemaker at Chateau Petrus,) this 95 Point Malbec escapes from the glass with a chocolate infused dark fruit perfume laced with wild-berry preserves, dried violets, muddled raspberries and black pepper. With no shortage of opulence, the 2014 struts confidently with velvety tannins and a persistent finish that just won’t quit. At under twenty per bottle, this beauty should not be overlooked…
Emerging from the winery’s high-elevation vineyards in Argentina’s renowned Uco Valley, the fruit was picked at optimum maturity and hand-sorted twice before fermentation, then aged for 9 months in oak barrels preserving the lovely purity of fruit and stunning focus. This full-bodied, ornately textured Malbec comes loaded with densely packed, multi-faceted flavors… characteristics that although rare, I love finding at this modest price point… I strongly recommend securing a case.
