2017 FRANKLAND ESTATE ISOLATION RIDGE RIESLING
Scintillating, brilliant, enticingly aromatic, intriguing… These are just a few of the many qualities that I love about Riesling and make it the darling white grape of most Sommeliers in the world. One of the best examples I’ve tasted from outside of Germany is Frankland Estate’s 96 Point 2017 Isolation Ridge Riesling. This wine has everything that I look for in a bone dry Riesling and is classically Australian with detailed lime notes, and grand texture. Australia’s warmer climate produces thicker skinned grapes, which lends to their power and build. Riesling is also a virtual chameleon when it comes to food and wine pairing and in my opinion, an essential part of any wine collection.
Prior to founding Frankland Estate in 1988, the owners of the winery spent two vintages at Chateau Senejac in Bordeaux. They’re passionate about sustainable farming practices, and in 2009 they were awarded the organic certification. Over the last 30 years they’ve honed their winemaking techniques, and you can share in the benefits, when you taste their 2017 Isolation Ridge Riesling.
