2012 VANDELLA “MIRAMIS” PROPRIETARY RED
I love introducing you to wines that are truly unique and different than anything else out there. By all counts, this wine is certainly one of them… Aaron Robinson is a young and passionate winemaker who produces a single, unique wine each vintage, allowing the land to determine the direction of the blend. Literally harvesting every grape himself and only allowing the best clusters to make it into the bin, this fusion of Rhone and Portuguese varietals grown in Paso Robles and Willow Creek AVAs radiates with earthly delights. Saturating your palate with majestic dark berries, autumn spices, chocolate and plum, this is a killer bottle of wine at it’s $48 retail price…
The story doesn’t stop there… During tillage, Aaron unearthed a cast iron harvest ghost from the 1800’s, which is pictured on the front label of his inaugural 2012 release. Kept for 24 months in barrel, the 2012 is absolutely gorgeous right now. With Mouvedre contributing to the voluptuous mouthfeel and Syrah adding deep, earthy flavors, the blend really becomes unique with 20% Touriga Nacional, which provides backbone and terrific spice qualities.
