2014 FAMIGLIA BIANCHI MALBEC, ARGENTINA
Parading blatant levels of luscious dark fruits, threaded with a mixture of crushed violets, chocolate, minerals, and spices, the 2014 uncloaks an even higher level of concentration from a producer that we adore. An earlier vintage of this very special Malbec made a clear statement when it won the Grand Trophee, for the “World’s Best Red Wine” at the prestigious 2014 Vinalies Internationales Wine Competition in Paris, France, besting 3,500 wines from 41 countries… At under twenty per bottle, Famiglia Bianchi is simply one of the greatest Malbecs (or red wines in general for that matter,) that we’ve ever offered.
Transpiring from two very distinct cool-climate vineyards located in Rama Caída in the San Rafael province, the 2014 Famiglia Malbec was housed for 10 months in oak barrels, and reveals a strikingly rich, poised, and concentrated nature that’s downright supernatural. The wine’s velvety, soft mouthfeel and perfectly integrated tannins conceal enough structure to evolve for 5-7 years. I strongly recommend securing a case of the 2014 before the rest of the world catches on to this unmatched Malbec value.
