2015 COHO HEADWATERS PROPRIETARY RED
Coho makes Headwaters under a guiding principle of creating balanced wine exhibiting purity and vitality. Proprietor Gary Lipp focuses on Napa Valley’s highly acclaimed Coombsville region, where the cooler temperatures enable the fruit to develop concentrated flavors at ripe sugar levels with refreshing, balancing acidity. The 2015 vintage is the delicious payoff to Gary achieving his principal goals, and with the 94 point score, I wouldn’t hesitate to catch yours.
Gary Lipp hired renowned winemaker Phillip Titus to help achieve his goal. Philip has been with Chappellet for nearly 30 years and has produced some of the most sought after wines in California.
The 2015 release combines 46% Cabernet from Anderson Vineyard in Coombsville and Perata in Yountville, with 35% Merlot from Michael Black and Barking Dog Vineyards in Coombsville, and Sugarloaf East in South Napa. The final touch was 19% Coombsville Petite Verdot, and after nearly two years in barrel and three more in the bottle, this wine is rocking.
