2015 TENSLEY “SANTA BARBARA COUNTY” SYRAH
Shamelessly Californian… Tensley’s 2015 Santa Barbara County Syrah comes stacked with uncanny levels of blackberry jam fused with crushed violets, wild rose and leather. One of Santa Barbara County’s most revered producers, Tensley has graced the Wine Spectator Top 100 list on more than one occasion, and has earned dozens of 90+ scores from Robert Parker and The Wine Spectator. At around 1/2 the price of the winery’s single vineyard and Estate Syrahs, the 2015 Santa Barbara County Syrah is clearly a terrific Value.
Forged from four distinct vineyards, including Camp 4, Brave, Maiden and Clover Creek, the 2015 is remarkably inky and saturates your palate with an abundance of hedonistic black fruits and plush, velvety tannins. A striking inky/purple in the glass, on the palate the wine is decidedly opulent and layered with sweet blackberries, crushed raspberries, creme de cassis, vanilla and subtle smoke and a hint of bacon. Gorgeous now, this wine should drink beautifully for the next 5-6 years. At $21.99/btl, you’ll want a case of this…
