2016 DESIRE LINES SHAKE RIDGE RANCH SYRAH
The most important attribute that a winemaker can posses, is something that doesn’t come from experience and it can’t be taught. It’s a passion for their artistry and it’s this very characteristic that drives a winemaker to read every book about wine, and soak in all of the winemaking knowledge from their mentors. When we met winemaker Cody Rasmussen, his passion for winemaking was so intense that he wears it on his sleeves. His first job in the wine industry was working the 2011 harvest at Balletto Vineyards… Next was the 2012 Harvest at Patz & Hall and in 2013 that unteachable drive propelled him to landing a job as the assistant winemaker for Morgan Twain Peterson at Bedrock Vineyards. It’s there where Morgan helped him secure his own fruit to start Desire Lines, and at $40/btl you’ve got to try this…
Penetrating, intense and hauntingly deep all describe Desire Lines Shake Ridge Syrah, which oozes with sweet blue fruits, wild game, and cracked black pepper. This micro-produced Syrah arose from an idyllic site in Amador County that produces concentrated and remarkably expressive fruit. Held captive for 14 months in neutral oak barrels which helped preserve the natural fruit clarity, this wine is perfectly balanced, and profoundly hedonistic. I highly recommend satisfying your desires and locking up a case of this for your cellar.
