2013 MONTAGU “BACIGALUPI VINEYARD” PINOT NOIR, RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

$60.00 $60.00

Hailing exclusively from the iconic Bacigalupi Vineyard… the vineyard made history at the 1976 Paris tasting when Château Montelena triumphed over all of the French wines in its category.  40% of the fruit was sourced from Bacigalupi Vineyard.  Montagu’s beautiful tale of this famous site is conveyed by an extravagantly rich, velvety, plump style, surrounding a tapestry of black cherries, Asian plum, raspberries, vanilla and notions of spice.

With a mere 7 barrels produced, of which less than 50 cases remain, this truly once-in-a-blue-moon price, there likely won’t be enough wine to meet demand.  If you would like to add some of this beautifully textured, classical, profound Pinot Noir to your cellar, I strongly recommend placing your order right away.

Description

2013 MONTAGU “BACIGALUPI VINEYARD” PINOT NOIR, RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

Winery Notes: “This Pinot is aged in French oak barrels and shows a classic Russian River profile of juicy dark red fruit, bing cherry, raspberry and cola with earthy undertones of pine straw and spice. It’s balanced by a bright, refreshing acidity. The Bacigalupis have farmed the Russian River for over fifty years and were instrumental in California’s success at the famed Paris Tasting in 1976 where they were the source of most of the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay which won the tasting, putting California on the map as a world class wine region.” 158 Cases Produced
