2014 ULIZ “BOURGOGNE ROUGE” PINOT NOIR

$29.99 $29.99

Absolutely one of the finest demonstrations of Bourgogne Rouge that I’ve swirled in a glass… gorgeous scents of plum, wilted violets, white pepper and wet blueberries waft harmoniously from the glass.  Delicate and intriguing flavors methodically encircle your taste buds, supported by supple tannins, and blue fruits which gradually build complexity and delineation and the wine opens up in the glass.   Our tasting panel was so enthralled by this delightful Bourgogne Rouge, that we’ve added it to our by-the-glass menu in our shop in downtown Yountville.  Unfortunately only a limited number of cases make it into the US each vintage, and given the high-quality of the 2014, this vintage will disappear in record time.

From vines averaging nearly a 1/2 century in age, this stunning 100% Pinot Noir spends 12 months in oak barrels before bottling and was fermented whole-cluster, contributing to the wines remarkable depth and fascinating qualities.  Arising from two distinct vineyards called Maison Dieu and Les Saules, each site adds its own complex nuances and textures to the final blend.  A stand-out for its wonderful balance, finesse and compelling qualities, if you’re searching for a delicious Red Burgundy to enjoy on a regular basis… This is it.

Tasting Notes:  “Delicate, layered aromas of boysenberry, wet blueberries, white pepper, plum and violets waft generously from the glass.  Sweet fruit entry with great lift in the mouth, supple and balanced, with majestic qualities.  Becomes more succulent as the wine opens, building towards, blackberry, mineral infused blueberries, and tea.  Drink between 2016 and 2022.”
