2015 GUARACHI “SONOMA COAST” PINOT NOIR
$65.00 $65.00
Many of the most idyllic expressions of Pinot Noir come from areas where there’s a gap between two land masses, creating a funnel that allows cool coastal air to flow in. This keeps the natural acidity higher in the grapes and allows them to achieve their highest overall potential. One prime example of this geological masterpiece is the Petaluma Gap in Southern Sonoma County. Wineries like Kosta-Browne and DuMOL source fruit from this area, and vineyards like Gap’s Crown and Sun Chase have become notorious for producing world-class Pinot Noir grapes. Fruit from these areas will typically go for a premium, so when you can find one at a reasonable price, and from a great producer, go all in. Guarachi’s Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir combines fruit from both Gap’s Crown and Sun Chase and the wine is made in a plump, full-bodied and captivating style that’s classic to its origins and an absolutely brilliant example of the varietal.
Guarachi is a powerhouse producer of both Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, and they’ve been making high 90’s scores look easy. The wines are made by Julian Gonzalez who previously held the lead winemaking position for Paul Hobbs Consulting… Fans of a full-bodied, classic Sonoma Coast Pinot Noirs really have to try this one. Trust me.
