2017 WAITS-MAST MENDOCINO COUNTY PINOT NOIR
$34.99 $34.99
Have you ever chosen a new wine off of a restaurant wine list and been floored by its quality the moment it touched your lips? If you frequent some of the small restaurants in Mendocino County, chances are it’s happened to you… There are a lot of tiny production wines being crafted from revered vineyards, and produced by talented young winemakers that most people will never hear about. Waits-Mast is a prime example, and the wine was brought to life by winemaker Shalini Sekhar, whom you might not know (yet). But chances are you probably recognize some of the places that she’s worked, liked Williams-Selyem, ROAR and Copain to name a few. On the palate the wine is immediately recognizable as something truly special, with penetrating blue fruits, superior focus, and with a velvet-lined mouthfeel that’s both light on it’s feet and powerfully compelling. At under $40 you really should give this a try…
The 2017 Mendocino County Pinot Noir was created around a barrel selection of two of the wineries single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, Oppenlander and Nash Mill, (which each retail for around $50.) The tension and balance created between the two sites really makes this wine sing… The quality of fruit is palpable along with the skilled winemaking and care that went into crafting it. A minuscule 135 cases were produced, so don’t hesitate to secure yours.
