2015 FIORE BAROLO DOCG
Of the twenty wine regions in Italy, some of the most expensive vineyard holdings are found in the Barolo region of Piedmont. Barolo is the Italian equivalent of Oakville in terms of power, distinct terroir and price. It’s for those reasons that finding a killer bottle of Barolo at a modest price point can be a daunting task. We knew we found one the moment we tasted Fiore’s 2015 Barolo which is made in a newer generation style that’s significantly more enjoyable in it’s youth, and offers a pleasure-induced bouquet of wild roses, tart cherry, dark plum, pipe tobacco with hints of chocolate. This wine is an absolutely perfect introduction to high-quality Barolo, at a price point that will make you smile.
Fiore is a classic story of a family that has been farming their Estate vineyards since the 1920’s and selling their fruit for decades to go into other great Barolos… It wasn’t until 2011 when the next generation led by Andrea Fiore realized the potential of producing Estate wines from their exceptional vineyard holdings. She was the first in her family to graduate from the University of Alba’s enology program, and based on the quality to price ratio on her 2015 Barolo, she’s going to be a winemaker to watch in the coming years.
