2013 SADDLEBACK “OLD VINE” ZINFANDEL
Embarking on their 21st vintage of Old Vine Zinfandel, Saddleback sources fruit from the historic Frediani Vineyard in Calistoga, where top-tier producers like Selene, Relic and T-Vine have also purchased fruit. The final blend is magnified by 12% Petite Sirah, boosting the wines trademark monstrous depth and unending complexity. To top that off, the wine spends an impressive 24 months in Oak, resulting in an awe-inspiring Zinfandel, unlike any other.
Authored by Nils Venge, one of the great Pioneers in the wine industry. Nils made history when he became the first American winemaker to earn a perfect 100 Point score from Robert Parker with his 1985 Groth Reserve Cab. Parker declared it, potentially “the finest California Cabernet Sauvignon made during the decade of the eighties?” There’s simply never enough of this favored old vine Zinfandel to go around, and I strongly recommend securing a case before it runs out.
