Over eight decades later, their legacy flourishes across 49 distinct vineyard blocks, each boasting a unique microclimate. Nestled near the majestic foothills of Mount Veeder and bathed in the cool embrace of San Pablo Bay, fog and crisp air dance through the rolling terrain, shaping ideal conditions for exceptional grapes. Among these meticulously tended blocks, Blocks 7 and 22 stand out. Gracing the western benchlands of Napa Valley, they are defined by their thin, stony soils. Block 7, planted in 1975, has been the very foundation of the Hendry Zinfandel since its celebrated debut in 1992. Block 22, a younger sibling planted two decades later, injects a touch of youthful vibrancy into the blend. To capture the essence of the 2021 vintage, fermentation unfolds in stainless steel tanks, preserving the wine's inherent freshness. Spicy and lively on the palate and medium-bodied, with both fruity and savory elements. Pleasantly fine textured tannins. This wine, as always, is fascinating in its versatility.
