Romagna isn’t typically where collectors look for precision Sangiovese, but Chiara Condello has been steadily shifting that perception. From hillside vineyards in Predappio, her work is grounded in structure, transparency, and restraint. The approach is deliberate. Native fermentations, neutral élevage, and a clear avoidance of excess keep the focus on site. The result is a wine shaped by origin. Predappio does much of the heavy lifting. Marl and clay soils, combined with elevation along the Apennine foothills, naturally build structure into the fruit. That translates into tension rather than weight. Red-toned fruit, lifted acidity, and tannins that are present but controlled. Condello follows that lead rather than softening it, allowing the wine to hold its line with clarity and precision from start to finish. In 2022, a warm and dry season reduced yields and brought concentration, but sites like Predappio retained their balance. You see that here in a wine with depth that never turns heavy.
